Help me give my students a cozy rug for our classroom! Often times students feel more comfortable sitting or laying on the floor to do their work. This rug would offer a comfortable alternative for them!
Kids are fun. Getting to spend the day engaging kids in conversations, teaching them life skills along with written curriculum, and knowing that each and every day I have the chance to make a difference in someone's life is what drives my passion for teaching.
Big hearts, small town values, and perseverance are defining characteristics of the kids in my class.
We are from a relatively small district in a rural area. There are both regular and special education students in our self-contained third grade class.
Who wants to sit on hard chair ALL day long?! It is hard enough for adults to do but nearly impossible for children. Many students prefer to work from the floor while reading books, completing math work with a partner, or working independently. They often sit or lay on the cold, hard tile floors.
A soft, cozy rug will enable students to be comfortable in the classroom as they complete their work.
It will be a welcome alternative to the hard chairs at their desks. The softness of the rug will be helpful for students in the class with sensory needs. It will make work more bearable because they will be comfortable completing it! It will help the classroom feel more like home for many students.
