Help me give my students a hands on activity to help teach about chromosomes in both Mitosis and Meiosis

My Project

Hands-on learning helps students better understand complex science concepts. By using socks to create chromosome models, students will actively explore the structure and function of chromosomes, DNA, genes, and inheritance in a fun and engaging way. This interactive activity encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking while making abstract biological concepts more concrete. Students will gain a deeper understanding of genetics through building, comparing, and manipulating their models, leading to increased confidence, improved retention of key concepts, and a more meaningful and memorable science learning experience. Students will complete a presentation using technology and whiteboards to show what happens in each phase.
