This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a very low-income area in Springfield, MA. Our school is a Level 3 school in need of further resources regularly. I teach an abundance of ELL students who need very hands-on language experiences. All students receive free lunch and breakfast each day. Despite many hardships, students come eager to learn and grow each day. I would like to give them the tools they need to succeed every day. With such diverse backgrounds, a classroom is a place where all of my students can feel at home.

My Project

On April 5th, some of my students will begin to return to in-person learning. After over a year of remote learning, I am eager to give these students the chance to have socially distanced fun while we finish the year hybrid.

While recess will require students to remain six feet apart, I would love to create recess bags for them.

These will include chalk, Play-Doh and coloring materials for outdoor recess. Students will also have their own jump rope for recess time so they can get moving in a socially distanced manner.

Additionally, I have also included fidget tools for students to use in their individual desk spaces With these individualized tools, students will have the chance to have fun while remaining safe.
