Social/Emotional Support and Resources for Students and Teachers
My students need books, tools, and activities to help them cope with the strong emotions that they feel and the behaviors that come as a result of the trauma they have experienced.
Our students are extraordinary! At our elementary school, students as young as four years old learn that they have the potential to be a leader- in our school, at home, and in our community. Most importantly, they are learning to be leaders of themselves!
We set high expectations for our students, and they strive to achieve these goals.
Our school counseling and psychology programs focus on helping students in the areas on social, emotional, and behavioral growth. This year, we have recognized that many of our students are experiencing symptoms of trauma. Our programs need tools and materials to help these children feel better emotionally and behaviorally, so that they are able to focus on their school work and achieve success . We would also like to find resources for teachers whose job it is to educate these special kiddos on a daily basis.
My Project
Studies show that around 50 percent of children growing up in today's society have experienced some sort of trauma. In our school counseling and psychology programs, we work with students who are experiencing symptoms of trauma on a daily basis.
Our teachers and students will benefit from books, materials, resources, and activities that help students cope with trauma and provide teachers with strategies to best work with these children to help them be successful at school.
We will be so excited to fill our counseling toolbox with these strategies and learning experiences to help these students feel better and reach their full potential as contributing members of our community.
