Our students are amazing kids with different types of severe disabilities. Our students have Autism, Down Syndrome and other disabilities. I work with students in 1-3 grades with many problems in social skills and functional skills.
My students are really fun kids who like to explore the world around them.
They love learning but struggle with basic skills due to their disabilities. I have students that struggle to walk, struggle to express their wants and feelings, and have students that require a bit more time to grasp basic concepts. But that does not deter them. They continue to persevere until they get it.
My Project
My students have struggled with the unpredictability that COVID has caused. To try and counteract that I have been teaching parents to do my students goals at home when illness prevents them from coming to school. I am printing off a lot flashcards for parents to use at home to help keep a constant routine for my students.
COVID-19 has prevented my students opportunity to learn how to play with their peers.
Making it so they don't know how to share or take turns. The games are to help give them opportunity to learn how to appropriately play with each other.
