My students need diverse books in their classroom library! I've provided titles with complex topics. We also do not have a classroom bookshelf, which would hold all these precious books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are spectacular and brilliant! Our students are from a low-income community. Many of my students live in low-income housing and come from tough backgrounds. However, they strive when they are in school and you wouldn't know that they've struggled because of such grace. They bring their life background and my students are assets to the classroom. They're also all team players. I've witnessed amazing team players help out whoever needs it. For example, one of our students has an intellectual disability receives a huge amount of help from the kids. There was a point, where one of the boys said, "Maestra, he was reading a book today!".
My students are critical thinkers, thoughtful listeners, and creative learners!
They love to dance and sing songs as a group. They can connect their life experiences and tie it to their learning. Our students protect each other when they are in and out of the classroom. They all learn in different ways, but they can always find ways to grow with the help of their team.
My Project
Social justice books help the reader understand the world in a deep way. The impact is brutally important, especially during these times. Our classroom will be the sanctuary for ALL and it will show in the books, posters and book displays.
With your help, our students will be well-rounded and empathic during their academic learning.
With this addition, I am in hopes that our students who are hesitant about reading, will change their minds as many of the titles are high-interest books. Books like "I am Alfonso Jones" and "Roller Girl", give students' a deeper understanding of police brutality and girl empowerment. Unfortunately, these titles are not necessarily purchased in the school library, therefore it would create an accessibility for our students.
