I am a school social worker who works alongside our school psychologist and other members of our wellness team to help students remove any barriers to learning they may have. We are a Title I school and we find that many of our amazing children are facing significant social and emotional challenges.
It is my hope to help all our children increase their feelings of safety, learn how regulate their emotions, and establish and maintain healthy relationships.
We hope to turn their post-traumatic stress into post-traumatic growth by teaching them essential life skills and the building blocks of achievement.
My Project
With ever increasing evidence-based knowledge of what really helps students thrive during difficult times, we know that students can reduce their anxiety and feel more empowered and hopeful for the future. We know that with the right tools and mindset, challenging circumstances can provide opportunities for personal growth.
An extra monitor, a document camera, and the right lighting will help make me fully functional and effective whether I am teaching and counseling my students remotely, in the classroom, or from home.
These character building books they can read at home or at school, will also help them set goals to treat others with greater kindness and caring and see themselves in more positive ways.
