Help me give my students the opportunity to participate in play therapy to help them explore and express their emotions, thoughts, and experiences using fidget toys and cards.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My goal for this project is to promote student social-emotional development by offering outlets for self-expression, stress management, and emotional regulation. These resources provide sensory stimulation and tactile engagement, aiding students in coping with anxiety, improving concentration, and developing effective coping mechanisms. Moreover, they encourage creativity, communication, and cooperation, fostering positive relationships and enhancing overall emotional well-being within educational environments.
I plan to use the games and sensory tools here to engage in play-based activities where students can communicate and process complex emotions, and develop problem-solving skills.
The notebooks will be given to students who are in need of school materials but can’t provide them on their own. The lanyards and ID holders will be provided to students who are unable to purchase replacement ones at school in the event they lose their first one.
The students at my school are special due to the variety of individual strengths, interests, and aspirations. My school aims to prioritize personalized attention, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment among students. Our middle school is a Title I school that can benefit from extra resources to help support students' social-emotional and academic development. The students are special as they each have unique goals that staff aims to support through our work together.
