My Project

Social Emotional learning is a very important part of Pre-K. We are working with our students, who have so many different backgrounds and things that they are dealing with at home, to help them gain the skills to cope with different emotions. We have had a hard year this year and some of our students are dealing with so many big feelings that they are not sure of how to deal with them or express them.

The items in this project are geared towards helping our students learn about all different types of emotions and be able to put names to what they are feeling as well as express themselves and coping skills.

These items seem very engaging and I just know they will enjoy them.

The little Spot of Feelings books, along with the stuffed toys will allow for us to read and focus on one different emotion a week. Students will be able to read about each emotion and then use the carrot toy as a whole group game, that we can continue to practice with, to help students practice identifying each emotion as well as share how they can express it in a positive way within the classroom.

We would like to spice up our calm down area which is where students can go when they need a minute to themselves by add play-doh that students can use when they are upset, a calming down dog to help students remember how to take deep breaths, new laminated signs that are engaging and help students remember tips for calming down, bins to store materials as well as stickers when they have done a great job!
