Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are curious, excited, and energetic children who want to access engaging educational, hands on materials. Most of these students come from disadvantaged homes and look forward to using manipulatives, new books, and crafts. My students are struggling with social, emotional, or behavioral challenges and do best with new, engaging visuals and games to help them gain these skills. We cannot wait for new, fun, exciting materials!

My Project

These books will provide my students new ways to connect and identify their own feelings and experiences and apply appropriate strategies to cope with their feelings though discussions, games, and use of visuals. My department has limited access to new books that are more engaging, relevant, and visually appealing to my students. These books are better geared to facilitate discussions and skill building for my students who have low-literacy skills, ESL barriers, as well as speech and language delays. My students cannot wait to see new books in my SEL library!
