Social Emotional Learning Necessities

Help me give my students items to help them regulate their emotions throughout the day as as well as build social relationships in the classroom. Utilizing Social Emotional Learning Books will help students understand and manage their emotions.

My Project

This project aims to support students' emotional regulation and interpersonal skills by integrating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) resources into the learning environment. By providing tools such as fidgets, weighted stuffed animals, SEL books, and conversation cards, we create opportunities for students to develop self-awareness, manage stress, and build meaningful relationships. These resources are especially valuable for students who struggle with anxiety, attention challenges, or emotional regulation, helping to create a more inclusive and supportive learning space.

Fidgets and weighted stuffed animals offer sensory input that helps students calm their bodies and focus their minds, making them more available for learning.

SEL books serve as powerful tools to introduce and model emotional vocabulary, empathy, and problem-solving skills. Conversation cards foster peer interaction and guided discussion, helping students practice communication, active listening, and conflict resolution in a structured and safe way. Collectively, these tools aim to reduce behavioral disruptions, increase emotional resilience, and enhance students' ability to engage with academic content and social experiences. The ultimate goal is to equip students with lifelong skills for emotional intelligence and interpersonal success.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds, each bringing their own strengths and challenges to the classroom. Some may have neurodiverse needs, such as ADHD or autism, while others face emotional challenges due to past trauma. These resources cater to a wide range of learning styles and sensory needs, ensuring every student feels seen, heard, and supported.

They thrive in an environment where they feel safe and valued. The use of weighted stuffed animals and fidgets helps students feel more secure, reducing anxiety and creating a space where they can focus on their learning and emotional growth.
