Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love teaching Kindergarten! It is such an exciting time of learning and growth. Many of my students have never been in a classroom before with other children. It is very important that I teach them how to interact with others so they can have a positive start to learning and working together.

Social emotional learning has become very important to my students these past few years, both during and after the pandemic.

It is important that I teach my students how to identify and process their big feelings and emotions. I want my students to learn what each emotion feels like so they can have empathy and compassion for each other.

I plan to use these beautiful illustrated books to each my students in a very specific way about each feeling and emotion. We can then discuss events that happen in our daily lives that make us feel these emotions. These books are targeted to the age range of my Kindergarten students. Each book puts emotions and how to deal with feelings into language my students can really understand. The pictures help my students relate to the topics as well.
