I am a Speech-Language Pathologist in an elementary school. My current caseload is made up of more than 55 elementary students who are eager to interact verbally and develop their communication abilities during individual or small group therapy sessions.
My students are unique, come from diverse cultures and backgrounds, and have a variety of strengths and challenges.
Most of my students are faced with learning challenges and are functioning far below grade level. They benefit from multi-modality learning models, including visual and verbal supports to help them better understand grade-level concepts and curriculum. They often struggle with comprehending and using language effectively. Expressing their social emotional needs is a challenge for many of my students.
My Project
After a much needed Winter Break, my students and I are back to school and ready for a safe and healthy second semester! With the latest COVID-19 surge and ongoing stress students are facing, their social emotional and physical health remain top priorities.
During their time in the Speech Room, my students have the unique opportunity to participate in very small groups sessions, allowing them a safe space to express their thoughts, ideas, feelings, and emotions.
Please help me provide my scholars with new and engaging therapy materials to address their communication goals and social emotional needs. The TpT gift card will be used to purchase printable and digital therapy materials for in-class and at-home practice. The fidget toys, Pop Its, and puzzles will provide stress relief and will keep the students motivated and engaged. The games will provide the perfect opportunity to practice social skills, engage in conversations, and address social emotional needs.
