This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a functional academics classroom. We are a special education self-contained classroom. We are in a Title I school with a rich diversity in culture and backgrounds.

We have students with intellectual disabilities that place them several grade levels below their peers.

Each student in our classroom has an Individual Education Plan or IEP. This means that each student is receiving a tailored education, allowing them to reach their highest potential. We work hard every day to provide an engaging learning environment.

My Project

Social and Emotional learning is key to student development and growth. When a students social and emotional well being is taken care of that is when true learning will occur. We will be using these lego sets as reinforcers as students work on their social and emotional goals.

We will be using Lego to promote Social skills, emotional learning and STEM learning.

The great thing about Lego is that it also offers such a high educational value. Lego present kids with exciting opportunities to tinker and create, and this play is beneficial for development. Block play may foster a wide range of abilities, including motor skills, spatial skills, language skills, and divergent problem solving. Such abilities are helpful for success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
