The mini composition books are being used as writing journals where students can practice responding to prompts, writing about their experiences, and developing their ideas. Having their own personal writing journal has given students a special place to keep their work and see how their writing grows throughout the school year. The erasable pens have also been a huge hit in our writing center! Students love being able to write, make changes, and correct mistakes without having to worry about their papers looking messy. This has helped encourage students to take more risks with their writing and reminds them that making mistakes is a natural part of learning.\r\n\r\nThe ChapSticks have also been a fun addition to our classroom treasure box. They are used as small rewards to recognize students for their hard work, positive choices, perseverance, and accomplishments. For some students, a simple item from the treasure box is a meaningful way to celebrate their success. I love seeing their faces light up when they get to choose a reward after working hard or reaching a goal. These resources may seem like small things, but they are making a big difference in creating a classroom where students feel motivated, supported, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they first saw the new materials! The mini composition books immediately caught their attention because they were excited to have their own writing journals. Many students wanted to start writing right away and were eager to personalize their journals and begin filling the pages with their ideas. The erasable pens were another favorite. Students were excited to use something new in the writing center, and I noticed that they were more willing to write, edit, and try again because they knew they could easily erase and make changes.\r\n\r\nThe ChapSticks created just as much excitement when students saw them in the treasure box. They were thrilled to have new choices to work toward as rewards. The excitement surrounding these materials helped build positive energy in the classroom and gave students something to look forward to. Most importantly, their reaction reminded me that even simple classroom supplies can make students feel valued and can motivate them to participate and do their best.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue developing our writing skills through our daily writing journals. Students will use their mini composition books to respond to writing prompts, practice complete sentences, expand their ideas, and work on adding details to their writing. We will also continue using the erasable pens in our writing center as students draft, revise, edit, and improve their work. My goal is for students to become more confident writers who understand that good writing takes practice and that it is okay to make changes along the way.\r\n\r\nAs students continue working toward their individual academic and classroom goals, the ChapSticks will remain a positive incentive in our treasure box. We will celebrate students for showing perseverance, completing their work, making positive choices, and taking pride in their learning. I am excited to watch my students continue to grow as writers and learners while using these resources throughout the school year. My teacher assistant and I decorated the room after school on Tuesday so when they came in on Wednesday for graduation everything was up. They had been asking about a party and I told them we weren't having one, so they were not expecting to see anything...boy were they SURPRISED!!!\r\nI had the hallway bulletin board decorated so they could take pictures with their families and classmates, and of course...their favorite teacher!!! When they entered the room to balloons and gifts on their desks they were blown away. The parents were excited as well. My classroom is a part of the special education program so my students are only with their general education peers for part of the day. The ability to provide this for them made them feel extra special!!\r\nThe majority of my students will be going to the same middle school, but a couple will be headed off to different locations. Today was the last day they will see each other and I am happy I was able to make their last day a happy one!\r\nI would not been able to afford such a grand send off without each of your help. The rug, in particular, has become a favorite in the classroom. Students love how soft and warm it is, and they often choose to lie on it while reading or working on assignments. In fact, they frequently ask if they can use the rug during independent work time.\r\n\r\nThe rolling cart in the student area has also been a great addition. It is used daily and helps students keep their materials organized and easily accessible.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their reaction was priceless. They were especially excited about the rug—when I opened the package, their eyes lit up with excitement.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I would love to add another rug since my students enjoy it so much. Having additional comfortable seating options will give students more opportunities to stay engaged while learning in a welcoming classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1769177262237,"projectUrl":"project/a-classroom-that-feels-like-home/9914106/","projectTitle":"A Classroom That Feels Like Home","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Monroe","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7554761_orig.png?crop=358,358,x0,y69&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1635382259964","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7554761"},{"teacherId":9408418,"projectId":10010290,"letterContent":"This project has made a wonderful impact on my students and their excitement for learning through art. When the materials first arrived, the students were thrilled and eager to start creating right away. Their curiosity and enthusiasm filled the classroom as they explored the new supplies.\r\n\r\nMy students have already been using the resources in several creative ways. Using the etching papers, students created detailed animal artworks. They loved scratching their designs into the surface and revealing the colors underneath. It was exciting to see their creativity come alive as each animal became unique and expressive.\r\n\r\nOur 5th grade students are currently working on creating Easter baskets. They are learning about design, construction, and creativity as they build and decorate their baskets. The students are proud of their work and enjoy seeing their ideas take shape.\r\n\r\nIn 2nd grade, students worked together in groups to create LEGO cars. This project encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity. The students were excited to collaborate, test their designs, and share their finished cars with the class.","fullyFundedDate":1768276303518,"projectUrl":"project/weaving-etching-and-fun-extra-supplies/10010290/","projectTitle":"Weaving, Etching, and Fun Extra Supplies for My Artroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dawn Mundt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9408418_orig.jpg?crop=347,347,x0,y17&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1710791030377","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9408418"},{"teacherId":2083063,"projectId":9607647,"letterContent":"Your support means the world to us!
