My Students

My students are wonderful, smart, capable, and thrilled to learn.

I want to preserve their enthusiasm for learning and school by providing them with the resources and tools to be successful.

As the school social worker, it is essential that I provide the students here with opportunities to explore and learn coping mechanisms to ensure that their minds and bodies are ready and regulated for learning in their classrooms.

My Project

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly influenced the world. However, it has had a tremendous impact on school-aged children. In 2020, students were sent home in March and were unable to finish the school year as anticipated. They returned in the fall of 2020, but things were not the same. Students have been asked to distance themselves from one another, wash their hands frequently, and wear masks. The uncertainty and isolation from the pandemic has affected children's way of dealing with stress and anxiety.

As the school social worker, it is my job to ensure that children feel emotionally and physically safe at school.

To establish a safe environment for the students at our school, it is essential that I provide instruction on how to use tools to verbalize emotions and feelings. I will do this through books, sensory tools, and mindfulness spaces. In order for students to make academic gains, they need to come to school knowing they will be seen, heard, and understood.
