My school is special because of the students! I see 65 fourth graders every day and each one of them has a special gift. I have some that are ball players. I have some gymnasts. I have some high-level readers. I have some talented artists. I have some that are excellent public speakers. I have some that dance. I could go on and on. The point is that here in this little country school, all of our stars shine bright!
Social Studies is the focus of this project. Our school library has a few of each of the featured book series and they stay checked out! I know the kids will love reading these books. I also asked for the DVD of "Little House on the Prairie". Many of the students love the books but have never seen the show. Hard to believe, I know!
In addition to books, I am also requestioning a globe.
We don't have one in our classroom. Sometimes it is hard to show distances across an ocean on a flat map.
In the fourth grade, we focus quite a bit on the United States. For my hands-on learners, I thought the big maps would be great for several interactive activities.
