Help me give my students the proper tools needed in order to express emotions, deal with stress, and give them opportunities to not only recognize their feelings, but also handle them appropriately.

My Project

My students are second graders at Title I school that come from socioeconomic backgrounds that have experienced a lot of negative experiences as well as traumatic events who need support and love in handling such great emotions with little attention spans at times. They are in desperate need of being able to recognize their feelings, understand how to to express them, and validate them within the classroom all while trying to stay focused. At times these students can be easily upset or nervous exploiting several different waves of emotions during the day at random times. They need a designated cool-down area to sit and process what they feel, and have the proper tools such as sensory timers, emotion books, and sensory balls. Each pouch can hold several sensory items for each student, and the laminating pouches can help make sturdy task cards for students to use when tracking their feelings. They want to understand their feelings and be able to express empathy towards their peers.

By donating to our project, you are not only helping them be successful inside the classroom by learning about their feelings, and enhancing attention, but you are setting them up for success outside of the classroom, and for their futures!

Mental health is not just important for adults, but also just as important for young children. The earlier we help them with their mental health, the better. With having a chart of emotions that give tips on handling them, books to learn from of emotions, and different sensory activities, this can help students truly know when they need to take a break or reset simply by being knowledgable of themselves. Every student is unique and I love that about my students, and that is why I am asking for a variety of sensory tools!
