Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school population is primarily bilingual, with many of the students newly arriving in the country. Many of these students have overcome many obstacles and trauma, yet remain positive and strive to achieve. We have a comprehensive social-emotional program in place. This SEL program teaches leadership and emotional skills, which help the students acquire coping skills for their trauma.
S.O.A.R.
is an acronym for our award program, each month the students receive awards and incentives for their hard work and excellent behavior. They love plush animals and tactical items such as Play-Doh and slime. Not only are these items incentives, but also serve as coping tools. The board and card games will also promote social skills and teamwork.
