Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Many of my students have been identified as students with a disability. Most of these students have a learning disability in the area of behavior and need instruction in different aspects of life to help them be more successful - mostly in providing students with the opportunity to interact positively with their peers and adults in their lives.
"Understanding why a student is challenging is the first and most important part of helping them." When my students are given the opportunity, with appropriate instruction, to obtain new skills like learning to sew, completing embroidery projects, and producing items that they can share with their family, they are able to focus on attention to detail and a project they can be proud of.
My Project
The materials that I chose for this project will be used to teach students how to make basic items they can use at home or at a job site. For example, students will be taught how to make an apron that can be used while cooking at home or at a job.
Students will also have the opportunity to learn how to make pillowcases for their pillows at home.
The demographics of students that make up our school district/ behavior classroom require more teaching at school so they may obtain valuable basic life skills.
