My Students

I have some of the most loving, creative, kind, hardworking students. I am an ESL teacher working with students who are bilingual on a campus with students that are classified as coming from low socioeconomic homes. On my campus, 97% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches.

My students inspire me every day.

It's amazing to see their transformation from the shy, timid new student to the fearless, hardworking, silly students they grow into. I feel like sometimes my students are so quiet that their amazingness gets overlooked or others may not realize they are struggling to learn the lesson. They are hard workers that often do not get recognized enough. They are such good kids and such good role models to others on campus. My kids are simply amazing and I would love to give them a safe space where they can read, learn, grow, and play with their friends.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of high-interest books to use during read alouds. I chose these books because I want my students to hear diverse and fun stories! These books will mostly be used during read alouds and as anchor texts for fun activities. These books will also be added to my classroom library for any student that wants to read them.

My emerging bilingual students will love learning about and benefit from hearing stories from different cultures.

I believe these stories will help open new doors for my students and create opportunities for them to learn so many new things.
