My Students

My students are amazing. As a grade level, we view all of the 2nd graders as our students, even if they are in another teacher's class. Our school pulls from a very diverse population in a rapidly growing area.

We are a big school, but each classroom feels warm, welcoming, and just-right for everyone.

As teachers, we work together to make learning fun and meaningful to the kids. We plan together each week to better collaborate and assess the individual needs of every student.

My Project

I am asking for a class set of flashlights. This may sound funny, but hear me out.

The flashlights will be used for independent reading fun.

We do not have usable window light in our classroom. I am hoping to use the flashlights to engage students in meaningful reading through the use of flashlights. I hope to turn out the lights, have the kids settle in, and read via flashlight. It will be different enough to be fun and new, and hopefully make the usual reading time a lot more fun.
