My preschoolers walk into my classroom each and every day with enough energy to fuel a professional football team! They are inquisitive, lovable, and make me smile on a daily basis. I think of all 36 of them as my babies and I want the very best for them. My students also come from various cultural and economic backgrounds. Some of them are ENL students and others are students with special needs.
Making sure that my students develop a love for reading is one of my top priorities as a pre- teacher.
Teaching pre-reading and basic reading skills is paramount in my classroom. I want nothing more than for my students to enter kindergarten with, not only the skills they need to be successful readers, but also a passion and thirst for reading! I would love to have these colorful, tactile pillows and soft seats to add to my existing reading corner. These pillows and seats would be a great addition to my classroom. They would allow my students more flexibility and comfort as they cozy up to read a good book!
My Project
Developing excellent reading habits begins in the early years of a child's life. Introducing children to literature in pre-k supports kindergarten readiness, promotes early literacy, and supports a love of language and a passion for reading. My students are exposed to reading everyday in my classroom, whether it is a mini-lesson on the carpet or independent reading on the carpet in the reading corner.
These pillows and soft seats are not only great for sensory exploration, but will also make my reading corner a little more comfy and cozy for my pre-kindergarten students.
My pre-k students will absolutely love to cozy up with one of these pillows and seats and dive in to a magical adventure as they explore book after book.
