My students need a new carpet to sit on during whole group learning.

Our school is a Title I school in the Southwest side of Oklahoma City. Our students live in a primarily lower socioeconomic area, consisting of 68% Hispanic, 19% Caucasian, 9% African American, 4% Native American, and 1% Asian population. Our district is 100% free lunch, giving us the opportunity to provide free breakfast and lunch for every student.
Our students come to school eager to learn every day, despite their daily strife.
Our students are faced with many challenges, in and out of school. We do our best to provide a safe and loving environment for each child, while also providing support for their various needs and learning styles.
My students are in need of a new carpet to sit on in the classroom. The carpet that I have selected is from Lakeshore Learning. It is a good quality to ensure that it will withstand the various activities that our students do in Kindergarten. It is decorated colorfully and is designed with the letters of the alphabet to help create a literacy rich environment.
Spending time as a whole group on the carpet is essential for learning and building a strong classroom community.
It serves as a comfortable spot to do read alouds, practice letter and number recognition, and many other learning goals. It also allows us to have class discussions and create a positive learning environment.
