Snap Those Circuits Little Buddy

My students need a project that would teach them how circuits work, a tool to document and conduct research simultaneously so they can align learning with STEM projects.

My Students

My students are very interested in science and the benefits of the technologies that are aligned with STEM research and inquiry.

They are a technologically savvy class that constantly ask how things work.

Inquisitive is an understatement as they are always asking questions and taking apart items in the class. Unfortunately we have few interactive pieces in our classroom that lends to their hands-on nature. We are limited in resources for research and often times have outdated research technology options that are unreliable.

My Project

As part of a scaffolded activity, students will use the snap circuits to begin to understand how circuits work and are applied. From there they would research items that use simple to complex circuits and attempt to create their own circuits which may be used in their everyday lives. The ipads attached to this project would be used for research and documentation of their progress. Students will then use their documentation and apply it to teaching the kindergarten "buddies" class that they mentor in how simple circuits work. The snap kits would be used as a demonstration piece and then they would show their "buddies" their own simple to complex circuit and how it may be used in everyday life.

Our class is very excited for science and the opportunity to create meaningful projects not only for themselves but also for their "buddies." If this project is funded, the donations will help to perpetuate the interest in STEM projects not only in my class but for those future "buddies."
