Help me give my students snacks to brighten their day and a journal to help them cope! This is unprecedented for my students. Never have they been forced away from schools, classrooms, traditional learning, and teachers.

Students today are facing societal issues we never considered. They worry about their body image, academic inadequacies, poverty, violence in their communities, drugs, and whether or not they will make it to their future.
My students live in a highly populated, urban setting.
Many of them never venture outside of their own communities and have limited exposure to all our city has to offer. The majority of the students live in rental properties and apartments and, too often, single-parent homes. These children crave attention and affection.
All they really need is someone that cares! My students want to believe their dreams can come true just like anyone else's. Help be that hope in their lives. That's what I strive to do every day.
Composition books will allow students to write about their feelings, fears, dreams, whatever they care to share. The snacks will brighten their day and let them know we still care!
My students are accustomed to being able to earn small treats every other week.
We have been distanced for two weeks now and I am sure they are missing school, routines, and normalcy.
Being able to provide them with a small assortment of treats may be just what the doctor ordered. Students are just as uncertain as the adults are, maybe even more so. If they can get their words down on paper, while they taste a familiar treat, we may brighten not only their day but their future days.
