Wow! I cannot believe that I am halfway through my fifth year of teaching. Time sure flies when you enjoy what you love. My students this year are a lively, inquisitive, and creative bunch. They love to learn and explore the world around them. My students come from many different socioeconomic households. Most are from low income one parent households and others are military connected. We have several students who suffer from ADD/ADHD, ODD, and other learning disabilities. No matter their background or family life, they strive to be the best students they can be.
My goal is to give my superheroes a warm, cozy, and safe environment.
I want them to be able to come to a place where they feel safe and comfortable! I strive to give my students a fun and engaging classroom where they can learn and grow. We are a tech-based, hands-on learning classroom. We strive to prepare our students to be twenty-first century learners. STEM is important and my students love this time of the day. They are amazing engineers, artists, and coders. I love what I do, and I wouldn't change a thing!
My superheroes are hard workers who struggle to focus on the task at hand when their tummies are rumbling! They are used to getting a snack and a drink to help them get through the day. Many of my students come in late, and they do not get the chance to have breakfast before coming to class. These kids are hungry! Many of my students do not have food to eat at home; therefore, I have to provide them with some snacks and drinks to help them make it through the weekend. I have been able to start a snack and drink pantry in my classroom this year.
The snack and drink pantry that I have in my classroom, thanks to Donors Choose, is running low on food for my superheroes.
I am requesting some more healthy snacks and drinks to give my students when they are hungry for the remainder of the school year. The Poptarts are a good on the go snack I can give my superheroes in the mornings when they are late and miss breakfast. The Goldfish, Cheeze-its, granola bars, Rice Krispy treats, chips, and cookies will be given out for daily snack. The Gatorade and juices will be given out for daily snack as well.
These items will also be used to make little take home baggies that I can give those students who need something to eat over the weekend. Our school does provide some food; however, the number of slots available is limited. I hate to send my babies home without food to eat. These little take home baggies might not be much, but at least, they are something for them to eat. Thank you for giving to our project, and for your help in feeding the hungry!
