My Students
My sixth and seventh graders are great learners and thinkers. They have great personalities and are curious about the world around them. Most of the students live in and around the South Bronx. Despite the trials and tribulations that many students have gone through in their short lives, they eagerly come to school because they know that it is a safe place, where they can learn and grow. Many students come to school ready to learn academically, and unbeknownst to them, socially.
My Project
The middle school sports teams this year are on a roll. Students who I never thought would have participated on a team are learning how to be team players, which includes communicating with other children and adults.
However, students are also hungry before and after school when they are going to practice.
Students are constantly asking for snacks for water to drink. These snacks will help students to have energy to practice and no longer feel students. Students no longer have to go to the bodega to pick up snacks because they know that I will provide them with snacks.
