My fifth-grade students are so passionate about their learning. They come to school daily, ready to learn in our virtual classroom. They absorb every bit of information and are ready for the next new thing to be presented. My students deserve every possible opportunity to learn when we are online or in person. I try a variety of ways to meet the needs of all my learners in my classroom.
My students come from high poverty and low-income homes.
Almost 70% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and almost 30% of students are English Language Learners. Most of my students have a lack of resources and access to computers, tablets, or the internet at home because of the expense they bring to families. When most of my students walk through the door, they are often worried about not having the right supplies to support their daily learning.
My Project
We have been back to school for about a month now, and I have learned so much from my students during this time. They have returned to in person learning after being home for 18 months. My students are so excited to be back in person. They are ready to learn and ready to work with one another.
Our school days are extremely long and we have an early lunch.
By having an afternoon snack, it pushes us to stay focus and keep us going in class.
Students were unable to take the state test last year, we will be taking the 4th grade state exam in October. These snacks will be an extra push for these long test. Having a snack nearby provides comfort and the necessary boost students need. Thank you so much for supporting my classroom.
