Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of my kids are so hungry they are often lethargic and unable to pay attention to my lesson. I recently handed out a sheet where my students were asked to write their names and how they felt- half wrote "hungry", and almost half wrote, "tired".
I sometimes ask my students what they had for breakfast and a startling number of times they will say nothing.
Same thing for lunch. I must have something to offer a student who says they are hungry and missed breakfast and lunch. It's a humanitarian issue at this point.
