Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help me give my first grade bilingual students a variety of snacks like granola bars, crackers, and chips to help them stay energized, focused, and ready to learn during literacy instruction. In our classroom, my students are working hard every day to develop their reading and writing skills in two languages. This takes tremendous focus and stamina, and often hunger can get in the way of their success.

Many of our literacy activities—like guided reading groups, independent writing, and small group discussions—require students to concentrate and practice for extended periods.

When students are hungry, it becomes harder for them to stay engaged and motivated. By providing healthy, convenient snacks, we can give these young learners the fuel they need to fully participate in literacy learning and grow their confidence as bilingual readers and writers.

Your support will help create a classroom where students can focus on learning instead of hunger, empowering them to build critical literacy skills that will set them up for success both in school and in life. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in their academic journey and help them thrive.
