This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our “new normal” is getting ready for our state exams in the spring in person, but taken online. We are eager and ready to make this a successful journey for all our students. My students will be taking state exams in March and April for the first time ever as high school juniors, They will need all assistance they can get.

These state exam are very important for all juniors in California as they are posted on their high school transcripts and college and universities access them when students apply to the college/university.

The state exams last several hours within several weeks. Each testing period lasts almost all school day, and students will need all the energy they can to test (and write) for the long periods at a time.

I'm setting out snack baskets to keep their energy up during the long hours. I would like to add as many snacks as I can, as in the past I have paid for all of them. I suspect some students may even come to school without having eaten any breakfast or food. This gesture would definitely even the playing field for all my students.

These exams are important for their college education, as California universities take these scores to place students in college courses once they enroll as well. My students will forever be grateful as will I. You just never know what makes a difference in their scores! And we want them all to succeed, not just with us, but in the future.
