This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have 12 students from 1st to 5th grade with special needs in a self-contained class. A self-contained classroom is composed of students with varied multiple disabilities. Our school is a Title I school in West Baltimore with about 95% of students availing free and reduced-price meals program (FARMS) and that means they do lack the materials and resources they need to truly thrive in the classroom. These passionate, excitable students deserve a high-quality education. Please help us provide this for them.
My Project
It is a very long day, and they get really hungry. I teach 12 students in special ed self-contained class in a Title I school in Baltimore City. While most of my students receive free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch, some of our families are financially unable to give their children snacks for the day, and my students are often hungry throughout the day. This project is important because our students have a very long day and need some different yummy snacks such as graham crackers, animal crackers, and Ritz Bits to help them stay engaged in learning.
If we can give them the smallest thing like an afternoon snack, they will be able to keep up their energy and learn even more in the exhausting afternoons.
