Help me give my students snacks that they are able to eat and enjoy durung my class periods. I need the storage cabinet in order to store their snacks since my school didn't provide one to me.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a newly appointed educator embarking on my journey at RHS, I am committed to addressing the challenges faced by our students, particularly those stemming from economic hardship. In a district characterized by low income, it's disheartening to witness the prevalence of hunger among our student body, with many arriving at school on empty stomachs.
My primary objective for this academic year is to cultivate an environment where students feel empowered to attend school without the burden of hunger-induced embarrassment.
I aspire for our students to feel at ease accessing snacks from the storage cabinet without the need to justify or explain their circumstances. While I do my best to provide snacks whenever possible, there are occasions when my resources fall short, leaving some students without the nourishment they need to thrive.
With the generous support of donors, I am optimistic that we can create a safe haven within our school where every student feels valued and cared for. Together, we can ensure that hunger does not impede our students' ability to learn and succeed.
