My Students
My sixth and seventh graders are great learners and thinkers. They have great personalities and are curious about the world around them. Most of the students live in and around the South Bronx. Despite the trials and tribulations that many students have gone through in their short lives, they eagerly come to school because they know that it is a safe place, where they can learn and grow. Many students come to school ready to learn academically, and unbeknownst to them, socially.
My Project
The 2019-2020 school year will be my 5th year teaching middle school students. I have learned over the years that students need snacks. When they do not have a snack, they are tired and not motivated to do their work.
Snacks help the students to concentrate.
Students are more likely to stay afterschool and get the help that they need when they know that they have snacks. Students are also more likely to to open up about something that is bothering them when they are no longer worried about what they are going to eat.
