Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a very special bunch. For many of my students, kindergarten is their first introduction to school. Most of my students come from poverty-stricken households. They are dealing with so much trauma. They are also dealing with pandemic stress. My students are capable of amazing things. They are curious, energetic, joyful five and six years olds. Their creative energy and desire to learn to make my classroom pretty magical. After being remote for an entire year due to the pandemic, I can't wait to be with my students in person, watching their creative minds at work.
My Project
Most of our school population is economically disadvantaged. Sometimes their only meal comes from our school. My Kindergarten cuties often come to school hungry with no snacks. I want to help provide healthy snacks to fuel their belly and their brain so that they have enough energy to do their best learning and have the best day. With your help I can provide healthy snack options they can choose. The smart food popcorn will be used to celebrate my smarties for their hard work and achievements on a fun Friday.
