Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom serves a variety of learners! Lessons are differentiated to meet the needs of every single learner! Their educational needs aren't met in the same way as their peers. Some need more practice, a challenge, hands-on learning, or maybe a game to fully understand a concept. Several of my students have learning disabilities. My students thrive in small group settings so I move them around as much as possible. My students' engagement level goes up when we can learn in a variety of fun ways. I keep them wanting more and wondering what will happen in the classroom next. I create an environment where students love to learn, and I love to teach!
My Project
My fifth grade students have a rigorous school day! They begin at 8:00am, have a break at 10:30 and eat lunch at 1:00pm. Ninety percent of my students eat the free school lunch on a daily basis and never bring a snack to school. I see most of my students begin to shut down around 11:30am, which is in the middle of our math instruction.
It's important my students eat a snack during their break to fuel their bodies and minds to participate effectively in school.
After school I provide tutoring and coding club. These students also require a snack which is often not sent with them to school. I would love the help and assistance in providing snacks to my students.
