This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The building I work in is an equity focus school with four teachers at each grade level. Our building is divided by two sets of students K-5. Our kids begin in kindergarten and have a choice to enter our dual language model where half of our kids receiving literacy, science, math and writing in Spanish for half of their day and move to English for the second half of their day. These students move up K-5 between two teachers and work together all the way up through 5th grade. The same goes for students in the English track. While the students in this track focus on English only, our kids consist of both English language learners and English language models to their peers. Students remain within this strand of students K-5. Both strands of students are learning content through hands on and engaging strategies to learn reading, writing, math and science.
Please help me get snacks to give to the kids during end of the year testing for the district as well as state benchmark assessments (SBA).
I teach in the special education classroom with students ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade. Our building also works on an RTI (Response to Intervention) model where all students who need support, receive their support within the means of staffing and availability.
