Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach students across all high school grades. Many of my students come from low-income households. As a result, many of them come to school hungry. While they receive free breakfast and lunch, students are still hungry and ask to leave class to find food. As we enter the colder months, I'm asking for help to give them snacks to help them learn so they can continue to make great progress in their learning!

Students' hunger is pulling them out of class and making it harder for them to learn!

To maximize student learning potential, our goal is to provide them with healthy, filling snacks in the classroom. Furthermore, having fidget toys accessible helps students focus, particularly students with ADHD. This can help keep them on task, improving the learning environment for everyone.

Your help in doing this would be greatly appreciated! Students are so appreciative of having snacks in the classroom so that they can focus on learning and have the energy to get through lessons and tasks that are a challenge for them.

Additionally, our students are always excited to express their learning in new ways! The chart paper, sign holder, and colored paper will help students complete creative projects to demonstrate new skills and knowledge.
