Have you ever thought that you were always fighting against the odds; that you were alone and no one understood what was going on in your life? That is what many of my students deal with. I am a Special Education teacher in a low-income school district. Many of my students are not only faced with coming from a disadvantaged home life, they have other factors that are involved. The majority of my students have a broken home life and the odds are not in their favor. Coming to school is a part of the day they enjoy. Multiple times in a day students are asking me for food or a snack they can have to eat because they are hungry. My students thrive when given the right environment to work in.
My students are creative, think outside the box, and are determined.
Despite the challenges my students face, they work toward becoming better students and individuals. My students think outside of the box and use different tactics to complete homework, projects, or tests. I create an environment where they are able to learn and try different ideas that work best for them.
My Project
This project is to help those students who may not have much food at home or have money to buy food for the weekend. The food that is listed in this project would be for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Over the last year and a half, our school has been able to sustain a clothes and food closet for our students.
With the holidays and cold months around the corner, the need for food rises.
When students are at school, they are able to get breakfast and lunch but what about after they go home? To have a stable place to receive food from is a barrier that some students have. With the donation of these products, the students are able to focus on academics, working, and better themselves.
