My students are English Language Learners from a high poverty area. We are a Title I School with 100% of our school population receiving free lunch, and some even being part of the "Backpack Buddy" program that provides them with food for the weekend. My students are very helpful if they see a classmate struggling they volunteer to help them. Most of my students are the eldest of their family, and they are a resource for their younger siblings when doing homework. They should continue to be a fountain of knowledge for their family and serve as role models for their younger siblings.
They are bright students who are captivated by the capabilities of technology and love hands-on activities.
My students should not be limited in their achievements because of their economic status. They should have access to the tools they need to succeed. I want to instill in them that they are capable of anything if they set their mind to it and work hard to achieve it.
The requested items will make the time in our classroom more meaningful, engaging, and enjoyable. We will use the games when students need a brain break and/or days when we have indoor recess. The plastic bags will be used to store the games. The cardstock and brush pens will serve as a creative outlet for students.
Snacks are a great way to get students engaged and motivated.
The storage containers will be used to make sure the snacks are kept fresh. The storage drawers will help keep classroom supplies neatly organized and accessible to all. The headphones will be used for online programs, so students can focus and not disrupt others.
Pencil sharpeners are always welcome in a classroom, and these hand-crank ones are a quick and quiet way for students to sharpen their pencils. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift card will help me give my students activities that are educational, engaging, and fun. The sanitizing sprays and masks will help keep us safe and healthy.
