My students come from diverse backgrounds. Ninety percent qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Many of my students, as well as their parents, speak English as a second language. They come from homes where the parents work hard to support their children. My students are back 100% face-to-face after spending the majority of the last year and a half learning virtually.
My students are learning how to be a community within a classroom by trying to help each other with activities and assignments while they are in groups.
They are also learning how to work together and independently.
My Project
My students are always hungry between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and dismissal. Only a few students bring their own snacks.
These snacks I have requested will help ensure my students have some nutrition between meals.
Between breakfast and lunch is when most of the instruction is taught. A child can't get anything done if they are hungry. I also want to make sure they have something in their stomachs before leaving for the day.
Food helps provide energy to the brain! I want my students to be able to focus and complete their assignments. These food items will be perfect for a quick snack!
