Snacking, Safe Spaces, and Staying Dry!

Help me give my students snacks to keep bellies full and make sure our brains are ready to learn, umbrellas to keep us dry throughout the school day, and decor to create a classroom calming space.

My Project

Being a Title 1 school, many of our students arrive at school hungry and need additional nutrients throughout the day to be able to have their essential needs met. We also have an outdoor campus, and even though we love the sunshine in Hawai'i, the afternoon rain showers can make it difficult for us to stay dry when we leave our classroom to go to lunch and our specials classes. Our room is also a safe space for many students, so creating a calm, welcoming, and loving environment is necessary.

This project would allow for students to have access to snacks throughout the school day, lighting and decor that will foster a welcoming environment, and umbrellas to keep us dry on campus.

These essential items would allow for all students to have access to these materials, which enables children to not feel singled out when ensuring that their needs are being met.
