This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As we enter the new year, I continue to face the task of providing snacks to 2/3 of my class. Every day there is a small snack period where the children are to eat whatever they brought from home. Teachers are to provide a snack if one or two students forget to bring to not feel left out. However, with more than a dozen not being able to bring in a snack each day, the supply requirement is high and takes a toll on me. Many of my class families are new to the country and thus, having the ability to send a lunch/meal, let alone an extra snack is a challenge as they cope with settling into their new lives.

My classroom has no monthly budget and thus, I am responsible for providing snacks for my students.

I attempted to ask my school for any leftover snacks from the cafeteria, but my request was denied. I am doing my best to buy as many snacks to keep in my classroom, but buying snacks every day adds up. I have a few parents who help me by sending some extra snacks for the other children from time to time, but I don't want to constantly be asking them as I understand it is a tall task for anyone. I hope someone out there is able to help fund my request as I try to feed my students until the end of the school year.
