Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Most of my students reside in urban area which is mostly underfunded and, in some areas, lacking even the most basic of needs.

Many students at our school suffer from homelessness or are in foster care.

Many come from immigrant families seeking refuge in a sanctuary city. More than 75% of the students in my school come from extremely low-income households. What's worse? Our school district is in the midst of a budget crisis and renegotiations of city contracts that affect programs that help those more needy students.

These kids are the kinds of kids that inspire innovation. They are the example that leaders should be following and the hope that will fuel the future.

My students are all extraordinary kids!

Although many of them come from tough neighborhoods and lifestyles, they are strong, smart, and full of life.

These are the scientists of tomorrow.

My intention is to help those students who are less financially capable of caring for themselves with a snack corner that will allow them to have some snacks if they arrive late to school and miss breakfast. Also, this snack corner will allow them to get some food while they will stay after school for free tutoring with me.
