Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 20 students in my pre-kindergarten classroom. My classroom is housed in a Title I school in South Carolina. One hundred percent of my students receive free or reduced-price meals.
Most of my students speak English as a second language.
The awesome students in my classroom have been identified by our school district as being "at-risk" and needing an additional year of educational programming. It is my goal to make this additional year of programming one that not only provides the necessary academic needs but also provides the social and interpersonal skills found in play.
My Project
My students are the youngest in my school building, therefore we have the earliest lunch time. Because of this, we eat "lunch" at 10:10 each morning. By one o'clock, their little tummies are rumbling. With this project, I will be able to provide snacks to help keep the rumbly tummies at bay.
Food is a basic need for everyone and a full tummy makes it much easier to concentrate on your school work.
With these snacks, I will be able to provide fuel for not only my student's bodies, but their minds as well.
