Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I’m incredibly proud of my students for their passion for making a difference beyond the classroom. With this project, they are launching a student-led initiative called the “Healthy Snack Spot,” a pop-up station that will provide nutritious, ready-to-eat snacks like granola bars, veggie chips, mint packs, and dried fruit exclusively for individuals experiencing homelessness in our community.

Students will take full ownership of the project by planning the menu, budgeting for supplies, creating promotional materials, and organizing donation drives to stock the snack station.

This initiative is about more than just food, it’s about showing compassion and care for those in need while allowing students to develop leadership, teamwork, and service skills.

The Healthy Snack Spot will be set up at local shelters, community centers, or designated outreach events, making it accessible to those who need it most. In doing so, students can engage directly with their community, learn about food insecurity, and reflect on the importance of social responsibility.

This project is a powerful way to build community, foster empathy, and promote wellness, directly reflecting the Service Stars mission to support student-led service that benefits others beyond the school walls.
