This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a Language Arts teacher at a middle school in New York City. The population of my school and class is very diverse, but there is one thing they all have in common - they will work to their FULLEST POTENTIAL when they aren't distracted by their hunger.

I open up my classroom to students before school and during lunch - and many of them are without something to eat.

Be it for a lack of time or a lack of resources, many students are working through a long school day on an empty stomach. In the past I would offer my own snacks to students, but the amount of kids who now come to Breakfast Club and Lunch Club far exceeds anything I could pack for myself.

By providing these healthy, kid-friendly snacks you'll have a meaningful and immediate impact on dozens of students each and every day.
