This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come to school ready to learn every day! The students in my classroom come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They all bring unique talents and perspectives to my classroom, along with unique struggles. But the one thing they all have in common is a drive to learn new things and to experience the world around them in exciting ways. In order to meet my students varied needs, I incorporate many different types of learning strategies and resources into our classroom. Together my students and I are learning in unique and interesting ways!
My Project
We all know how it feels to be hungry and there is nothing worse than feeling hungry, but not having anything to eat. Many students in my class come to school without having eaten breakfast. They also come without any snacks to enjoy during our morning and afternoon breaks. When my students are hungry they are not able to stay focused or learn new things.
For many of the students in my classroom being hungry is a daily part of their life.
But if I can provide them with healthy and fun snacks to enjoy during both our morning and afternoon snack breaks they can at least feel confident that they will not be hungry in school and they can focus on learning and growing as a student. I choose an assortment of individually packaged snacks for my students so that they can choose a snack that is appealing to them. I am also asking for storage bins so that the students can grab what they want from the snack bins on their own. These bins will sort the snacks (keeping kids with allergies safe) and help students not feel singled out or made to feel different from the rest of the class when they need a snack. These snacks will help so many students in my classroom!!
