Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in three groups; I am teaching Physics, Chemistry, and Environmental Science, based on students’ mathematical ability.

My students are all extraordinary kids!

Most of these students reside in urban area which is mostly underfunded and, in some areas, lacking even the most basic of needs.

Many students at our school suffer from homelessness or are in foster care. Many come from immigrant families seeking refuge in a sanctuary city. More than 75% of the students in my school come from extremely low-income households. What's worse? Our school district is in the midst of a budget crisis and renegotiations of city contracts that affect programs that help those more needy students.

These kids are the kinds of kids that inspire innovation. They are the example that leaders should be following and the hope that will fuel the future.

My Project

My students are all extraordinary kids!

Although many of them come from tough neighborhoods and lifestyles, they are strong, smart, and full of life.

These are the scientists of tomorrow.

My intention is to help those students who are less financially capable of caring for themselves with a snack corner that will allow them to have some snacks if they reach late at school and miss breakfast while at school and with a microwave and a drink station where they can access healthy and quick lunch food options should they need or wish it. A refrigerator is needed to keep perishable food inside. Also, this snack corner will allow them to get some food while they will stay after school for free tutoring with me.

I also want to decorate the snack corner with some lighted trees and lighted vines to give a happy environment with smart plugs.
